Jose El Piedra

José L. Piedra stands out as a remarkable Havana brand, not only due to its unique blend of filler tobaccos sourced exclusively from the Remedios tobacco region (previously known as Vuelta Arriba) but also for its commitment to the ‘totalmente a mano, tripa corta’ method, meaning ‘totally handmade, short filler.’

The Piedra family immigrated to Cuba in the 1880s from the Spanish province of Asturias. They established their home near Santa Clara, located in the heart of the Remedios region, where tobacco cultivation dates back to the 16th century, and began crafting cigars.

The brand was founded and developed by the family’s second generation, led by José Lamadrid Piedra, whose name continues to honour the family legacy today.

All José L. Piedra sizes are crafted from Remedios tobaccos using the traditional ‘tripa corta, totalmente a mano’ technique, which emphasises short filler and complete handmade quality.
