Charatan Churchill

The story of Charatan began in 1863 when Frederick Charatan opened a tobacco shop on Mansell Street in London. Over the years, the brand's legacy grew, with the Charatan family remaining involved until 1960. In the 1990s, Charatan cigars, produced by Dunhill Tobacco of London, became the #1 Nicaraguan cigar brand in the UK. More than 150 years later, the Charatan legacy continues to thrive.

Charatan cigars are crafted specifically for the British smoker, featuring a refined blend of Seco, Ligero, and Volado filler leaves. These are paired with an Indonesian Besuki binder and wrapped in shade-grown Java leaf.

A few years ago, Tor Imports Ltd acquired Charatan from Dunhill Tobacco of London, aiming to enhance the product and revitalise the brand. In 2018, production was moved to the prestigious Joya de Nicaragua factory, the oldest in the country. This transition ensured that Charatan cigars retained their unique Yh blend of high-quality tobaccos while remaining premium yet affordable.

Now, as we enter the 2020s, Tor Imports is giving Charatan a fresh new look—one that blends its rich legacy with a promising future.
